Mann Public School
Delhi, India

Thanks to the spearheading efforts of Companion Flag Ambassador Mrs. Priti Sehgal, School Director Mr. Joghinder Singh Mann, and Principal H.C. Chhikara, Mann Public School has become the first school in New Delhi to adopt the Companion Flag!

The Ridgecrest PTA led the way toward adoption of the Companion Flag at Ridgecrest Elementary School north of Seattle! Special thanks go out to PTA parent Lynn Sorgenfrei and principal Bruce Titcomb.

 

 

Universidad De La Salle
San Jose, Costa Rica

Costa Rica's prestigious Universidad De La Salle became the first institution of higher learning in Central America to formally adopt the Companion Flag on July 8, 2005. The adoption was the result of the efforts Companion Flag Ambassador Gilberto Hernández Quirós, M.Sc.

Emwaniro Primary School
Khwisero, Kenya

Thanks to the amazing efforts of Companion Flag Ambassador Amos Akwabi, Ebuhonga Primary School of Khumusalaba and Emwaniro Primary School of Khwisero became the first Companion Flag schools in Kenya!

Citing Gandhi's challenge to "be the change you wish to see in the world", Mountain View became the first school in Bremerton School District to adopt the Companion Flag, 18 January 2005!

T.T. Minor Elementary School, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Gloria Mitchell, and lead teacher and Companion Flag facilitator Wendy Leonard, adopted the Companion Flag at a special adoption ceremony on December 6, 2004.

Institución Educativa "Ollantay"
Ollantaytambo, Peru

On June 4, 2004, Ollantay Secondary School became the first school in South America to adopt the Companion Flag. Located at the north end of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Ollantay Secondary School's Companion Flag and its host flag, the flag of Peru, are visible from the many Incan ruins and mountain pathways that look down on Ollantaytambo.

Andijan, Uzbekistan

Public School No. 2 is one of eleven Uzbek schools to adopt the Companion Flag during the spring of 2004!

Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Students from School 17, the first public school to adopt the Companion Flag in Uzbekistan, performed a skit to introduce the Companion Flag to other students in Tashkent at an all-city talent show.

Hamilton International Middle School

Hamilton adopted the Companion Flag on September 11, 2002, the one-year anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy. The school reaffirms its commitment to honor not only our differences, but all that we have in common, each year at its 9-11 student assembly.


Willow Park Primary School
Auckland, New Zealand

Willow Park Primary School became New Zealand's first Companion Flag school on April 30, 2004!

The Student Senate of Seattle University passed a resolution to fly the Companion Flag on Companion Flag Action Day (2002).


The Uzbekistan State World Languages University
Tashkent, Uzbekistan

The USWLU, with a student population of over 6,000, and several campuses spread throughout the Uzbeki capital, formally adopted the Companion Flag on October 14, 2003! University Prorector Professor Gulandom Bakieva, and Director and Head of the English Department, Professor Abbas Iriskulov, led the way.

Seventh grade world studies teacher Penny Chesier prominently displays the Companion Flag in her classroom. Students are reminded throughout the year of the importance of remembering what human beings everywhere have in common.

Sawyer Woods Elementary School
Kent, Washington USA

The wonderful work of Companion Flag Ambassador and school counselor Cari Land resulted in yet another adoption of the Companion Flag, this time at Sawyer Woods Elementary School. Three giant flags -- the national flag, the state flag, and Companion Flag -- now greet students coming to school each day!


Carriage Crest Elementary School
Kent, Washington USA

The students at Carriage Crest held an enthusiastic election to decide which color from the Companion Flag's host flag (the Washington State flag) would appear in the top stripe of their school's Companion Flag. Green won!

Carriage Crest students have sent national flags and Companion Flags to two schools under CFSI's Reach Out! project: George Schinas Elementary School in Luqa, Malta, and Caillon Elementary School, Caillon, France.

 

 

 

University of Notre Dame Australia
Fremantle, Australia

The University of Notre Dame Australia is the first university in Australia to fly the Companion Flag. UNDA flew the Companion Flag in Fremantle on September 11, 2003, to honor the victims of 9/11.

Fairwood Elementary School students adopted the Companion Flag on January 16, 2004, to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his vision of universal human dignity.

The Foreign Language Institute of Andijan adopted the Companion Flag in April, 2004, following a presentation to students and faculty by CFSI President Scott Wyatt and Central Asia Project Director Gayana Gazaryan.

 

 

Lyceum under the Foreign Language Institute of Andijan
Andijan, Uzbekistan

The Lyceum (high school) under the Foreign Language Institute of Andijan was quick to follow its name sake, adopting the Companion Flag the same day!


Samarkand Teacher Exchange
Samarkand, Uzbekistan

STE was one of eleven Uzbek public schools and institutions to adopt the Companion Flag in April 2004.

Tashkent's highly-regarded Lyceum under the University of World Economics and Displomacy adopted the Companion Flag on May 3, 2004.

 

 

Cascade Middle School
Longview, Washington USA

Principal Bruce Hollway has announced that the Companion Flag will fly at Cascade Middle School's newly-remodeled school starting the fall of 2004. Cascade teacher Casey Wyatt, who introduced and led the campaign to adopt the Companion Flag, received the 2003-2004 Cascade 'Responsible Citizenship Award'.

Companion Flag Ambassador Kojo Ayanwola, a band member for one of Nigeria's most popular performers, Lágbájá, has graciously taken time out to introduce the Companion Flag to two primary schools in Lagos. Hillcrest and Pamax are now West Africa's first Companion Flag schools!
