If you are a principal or director, there are just 4 steps: 1. Decide to fly the Companion Flag
2. Acquire a Companion Flag 3. Fly it at your school, and, 4. Make sure everyone knows what it means! If you are a student, teacher, or parent who wants to see the Companion
Flag flown at your school, introduce the idea to your principal or
director, and ask for her (or his) support. After that, you're ready
for steps 2, 3 and 4! The Reach Out! Project is a fun and exciting way to connect Companion Flag schools and students throughout the world. To get started, schools that have already adopted the Companion Flag simply reach out to another school (usually a school identified by CFSI as being interested in the Companion Flag Project). The students in the first school send letters, cards, photos, and other greetings to their counterparts in the "new" school, along with a gift of a national flag and Companion Flag for the "new" school. There is no debt or obligation created, and no payment is returned to the first school. The flags are truly a gift: the national flag, a gift in recognition of their special differences and uniqueness; the Companion Flag, a gift in recognition of our shared humanity. If the receiving school adopts the Companion Flag, and becomes a Companion Flag school, the hope is that it will then decide to reach out to another school, keeping the chain growing!
